Research published this weekend has shown that 4000 households using Help to Buy earned over £100,000 and that some 20,000 were not first time buyers. This follows some more detailed work undertaken by BBC News itself in February which showed that just 10 homes had been purchased in Hammersmith & Fulham under the scheme which between them had cost £1.9m. The media was very keen to understand why this was, what the scheme have been designed to do and whether it had achieved it. I was invited to speak to the BBC News channel and to make a comment for both the BBC One o’Clock News and ITV News as well as doing a turn later with LBC radio.
