You want to find the perfect house from the nations 24m homes – 780k of which are on the open market each listed on one or more of the 10+ biggest websites like Rightmove and Zoopla and most of which marketed by the counties 17,000 estate agents. Then add the 200k more properties on the ‘grey’ market – available but not in agents windows or advertised in the local paper all the while fending off the 1m or more other buyers each looking for a new home as well.
If that weren’t hard enough, once you’ve found it you’ve then got to work out if it’s sound, what it’s worth, whether you need to pay a premium to acquire it or if the seller might be interested in a quick sale. Do you know how to ‘value’ a residential property?
Most people think they can do all this themselves which may be why most people don’t actually find a new home and why many that do pay over the odds.
If you’re thinking of moving in 2015 consider splashing out £180 for my Pocket Agent service or better still take a look at the bespoke buying option. As famous firefighter Red Adair said – “If you think it’s expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur”.
